APES HILL CLUB, St. James, Barbados, B.W.I.Set high on the island's crest, Apes Hill Club is a 470-acre golf and polo community featuring panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. This spectacular site, a former sugarcane plantation, features deep tropical ravines filled with banyan trees and green monkeys, broad rolling pastures with long ocean views, and coral stone quarries edged by thick jungle. Two-thirds of the site has been set aside as a nature preserve. Located on one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, Apes Hill Club is a partnership of Landmark and Sir Charles Williams, one of the largest landholders in Barbados. Wentworth, the prestigious country club on the outskirts of London, will manage the club's operations. The initial real estate offerings at Apes Hill Club are nearly sold out. The golf course and other amenities will debut in late 2009. ARCOS GARDENS, Andalucia, SpainTucked away in Iberia's historic Andalucia region and developed by Landmark Spain, Arcos Gardens, the company's first community in continental Europe, is set in a valley below Arcos de la Frontera, the region's most dramatic "white town." The 18-hole golf course, designed by Landmark, features rolling fairways framed by thousands of 100-year-old olive trees transplanted to the site. Meandering streams and a series of lakes also beautify the course. One of the lowest-density and most eco-sensitive communities in Europe, Arcos Gardens is master-planned for 435 homes and a 100-room hotel. Opened in 2006, the property was recently named to the prestigious "Top 50 Worldwide Golf Resorts" roster by the Telegraph in London. LAKE PRESIDENTIAL GOLF CLUB, Upper Marlboro, MarylandLocated on more than 1,200 acres of rolling, wooded land surrounding a 30-acre lake, Lake Presidential Golf Club is destined to become one of the mid-Atlantic region's finest upscale daily-fee courses. The site is less than 25 miles from the White House, yet is set in a pristine environment far removed from the reminders of civilization. The 18-hole course, designed by Landmark, is routed through mature hardwoods and has ample stream and lake frontage. The course is slated to open for play in spring, 2008. Lake Presidential Golf Club is owned as a partnership between Landmark and the developer of the adjacent Beechtree community. Approximately 1,680 homes and 720 multi-family units are planned. LOST CANYONS GOLF CLUB, Simi Valley, CaliforniaA magnificent 36-hole upscale daily-fee facility in Simi Valley located an hour's drive north of Los Angeles, Lost Canyons offers two exquisite layouts by Pete Dye. The Sky Course skirts ridgelines and barrancas below the deeply incised flanks of White Face Mountain, its dun-colored slopes dotted with sage and chaparral. Elevated tees serve up unobstructed views of Angeles National Forest. The newer Shadow Course, stretched across a canyon floor below the pleated ramparts of the Santa Susanna Mountains, features rolling fairways pinched by barrancas and trench-like bunkers. Both courses were selected by Golf Magazine as "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play" in America. Set on 1,800 acres with little adjacent housing, the complex occupies former ranchland where Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, M*A*S*H and hundreds of other serials were filmed. Lost Canyons is anchored by an appealing ranch-style clubhouse. SOUTH PADRE ISLAND GOLF CLUB, Laguna Vista, TexasThis 1,800-acre master-planned community in south Texas fronts Laguna Madre Bay and features a 27-hole golf course designed by Landmark, with a fourth nine under construction. Within the development is a 17-acre harbor parcel adjacent to the Laguna Acosta National Wildlife Refuge. A bulk-headed saltwater tidal basin, which provides Gulf access to boaters, supports the club's Harbor Townhomes neighborhood. Annual site of the Texas Senior Open, South Padre Island is one of the top resort courses in the region.
